TV Wrap Up

This is where I wrap up and review all the TV I've been watching this month.

The Magicians Season One, Episodes 5-9

This show continues to stun and engage me!  I'm even considering picking up the books again... we'll see, though.  It's gotten much darker- extremely darker (I'm looking at you episode nine- you're just messed up!)- but it's managed to pull off this darker tone quite a bit.  While Quentin's storyline is the most engaging, I'm rather curious to see where Julia's story goes, since I have absolutely no idea at this point.  It has started to falter in the last two episodes, so I hope they start to do more with her again.  And, officially, I have a favorite character: Eliot!  He just comes off the screen and is so lively!  If you watch the show, I'm curious to know who your favorite is, so please comment below!

The Flash Season Two, Episodes 11-13

I just finished the first part of the Earth-2 storyline and I adore it so much!  I mean, yeah, more than that has happened in the few episodes I saw this month, but that storyline is just so great!  And the wardrobe?  I love it!  I think that may actually be my favorite thing about that world.  Wow was that episode awkward though, haha :)  If you watch you know what I'm talking about- the good kind of awkward.

Arrow Season Four, Episodes 11-13

Can I just say Felicity is my role model?  I mean, she's freaking awesome, even confined to a wheel chair.  Which, by the way, there need to be a bunch more wheel-chair bound bad ass characters, because I've noticed a lack in media (shall we get on that Hollywood?).  This whole business with Malcolm and his hand had me on the edge of my seat, which was wonderful.  I loved being swept up completely by this show again.

Legends of Tomorrow Season One, Episodes 2-4

This show has gotten much better, I must say.  And the MVP of the team is Martin Stein, who has to be my absolute favorite and an absolute surprise!  Also shining in the show (to no one's surprise, I'm sure) are Captain Cold and Sara, who's amazing.

Shadowhunters Season One, Episodes 8-10

The parallel universe episode has to be my favorite so far.  It was so cool and I'm so glad they've gone in this direction.  I know the show still has many flaws, but, you know what, I'm really glad it's on the air and that it's getting a season two, because seeing these characters come to life has been such a joy.  My biggest problem right now is Lydia and Alec because MALEC people MALEC!  Let's see how this pans out, though.  I enjoy Lydia outside of the part where she's killing MALEC, but whatever.

The Shannara Chronicles Season One, Episodes 3-6

I'm still really enjoying this show, and, while it drags occasionally, still seems to play like a movie.  It keeps me entertained and always guessing what will happen next.  I have no idea where the show is going but I'm expecting to enjoy it!  Again, I only have one problem, and that's the strange love triangle they're working so hard to push.  I get it, everyone's into everyone, but can we please skip over all of it (since it's underdeveloped) and just move on with the exciting bits?

Daredevil Season Two, Episodes 1-4

I'm going to do a full review of the show at some point, but since I wasn't able to binge it this year (I had more pressing things going on the day it dropped, aka C2E2) I'm only able to catch an episode or two a week.  I love what I've seen so far, especially the Punisher, who is the centerpiece of the show this season.  He's fantastic and it's one of those roles that just draws my attention every time he's onscreen.  I really hope Netflix gives him his own show, sooner rather than later, because it would be phenomenal!

Sunday TV

Welcome to another edition of Sunday TV.  Like with Sunday Comics, this has become a monthly post, rather than a bi-weekly one due to the fact that I haven't been watching as much television.

Flash Season 2 Episodes 4-7

I needed to catch up on this series desperately, and I'm so glad I did!  I love all the easter eggs that have been hidden, and can't wait to see the direction they take.  I've been on the edge of my seat the whole time I've been watching, and it's wonderful!

Flash + Arrow Crossover Episodes

The stronger of the two was easily Flash, though Team Arrow did seem to get preference in both episodes, either way.  Flash was a much stronger episode, and managed to not only tell the Hawkgirl story in a compelling way, but also further their own season-long plot.  Arrow, while indulging fans (and I was one of those fans) with the Oliver-and-his-son story, didn't really do much with their big bad this year.  Arrow did have me swearing profusely at one point, though, and if you saw it, you know what I'm talking about.

Arrow Midseason Finale

Well, I have a lot of feelings about this one, not surprisingly.  Mostly, it backs up my theory that Felicity will end up being Oracle (a theory I've had since season two, if you don't mind me pointing out, now that the rest of the internet seems to agree).  This episode held me breathless the whole time, which made for a fantastic ride.

Flash Midseason Finale

The Flash continues to be both fun and emotional, but with the amount of payoff at the end of this episode, I would say it ended on a fun note.  I am extremely mad at Barry for not cluing Patty into all the goings on by now, but beyond that I'm very happy with the show.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2- All Caught Up

I finally caught up, and just in time for The Force Awakens.  I forgot how much I loved this show, honestly!  And I forgot how dark it gets for a kid show.  It had me biting my nails, cheering, and crying the whole time I caught up.  I really recommend this show to everyone who's been thinking about it, because it really is worth the time.

What I'm Watching Now

I've got two more episodes before I finish season four of Once Upon a Time, and then I'll dive into season five and hope to catch up.  The finale of Noragami aired on Friday, but I won't be able to watch it until next Friday.  That show is seriously killing me but I love every second of it.  I've also been watching The Clone Wars again, and really enjoying it a bunch, I just don't have as much time to watch it as I would like, even on break.

Sunday TV

Welcome to another edition of Sunday TV, where I talk about the shows I've been watching lately.  I haven't done much live TV watching lately, which is really detrimental to keeping up on things, but it happens.  I did manage to finish off Jessica Jones, and there will be a full review of that coming shortly.  I'm also in the middle of binge-watching Blue Exorcist, which is so very good, and I just can't seem to stop.

TV Review: Arrow (Season 3), The Flash (Season 1), and Legends of Tomorrow (trailer)

These shows finished airing a bit ago, but I wanted everyone who watches to be caught up.  There will be SPOILERS down below, so read at your own risk.

I'll be making the reviews rather short, because, while I will talk about some details, I really just want to give my overall impressions.  I'm a major fan of both shows- I watched the series premier of Arrow with my family; same with Flash.  They're great shows, and I'd recommend them heartily if you haven't started them yet.

This was not my favorite season of Arrow.  Season two is easily the best, having the best villain so far.  But this season relied to heavily upon making the fans happy and trying to entertain new and old audiences.  I know they had some trouble with getting characters they wanted thanks to the new roster of DC movies.  Before the season started they wanted to use Blue Beetle and were stuck with the Atom, which is why that character feels more like Iron Man.  They also wanted to rely more heavily on Suicide Squad, but with that movie just on the horizon, they had to back off.  Not super happy about that.  I'll see the new suicide squad movie when it hits theaters, but I much prefer the cast from this show.  The fact that they killed of Deadshot makes sense, but it was still pretty upsetting.  Of all the characters who left, though, I'm most angry with Colton Haynes.  I can't STAND that he left.  And they gave him the most ridiculous exit.  (I could rant about him all day, to be honest.)   I also didn't like all the sex scenes; they'd have been much better if they were just fade to black.  The ending was cute, but that means things can only go down hill from here.  I also dislike how Merlin is now in charge of League of Assassins, and not Nyssa.

So what did I like?  After all that complaining, you may think there isn't much left.  But, I really think Stephen shown this season.  I've gained a bunch of respect for him as a person and as an actor recently.  They also did an incredible job with Black Canary.  I went into the season hating Laurel.  Now I'll defend her with my dying breath.  I was hoping that the villain would be a bit more... villainous... but I thought he pulled it off.  The flashbacks kept me interested, and I liked that they took place in Hong Kong rather than the island.  The shakeup helped keep me awake.  The story was pretty straight forward, and it did have some twists.  They didn't really catch me off guard, but I enjoyed them all the same.  Plus, Nyssa was in a ton of episodes and I adore her.

As for The Flash, I went into the season only thinking of it as a lighter version of Arrow.  Which,it pretty much was for the majority of the season.  This sort of whimsical feel took away from some of the draw, though the actors seriously knocked my socks off.  Later, when it started to get darker, it really held me attention.  The final few episodes were so emotional, and the show tied up nicely.

It took me a while to like any of the villains.  There were a couple that shown out, but I wasn't a fan of many of the actors.  It took until the second half of the season before I even started to see many of them as threats.  Besides that, though, there isn't much to complain about.  Oh!  Except that one tiny little thing at the end of the season when that small character named Eddie Thawne dies.  Yeah, I can complain about that.  Eddie was my favorite character.  I'm not kidding.  People laughed at me for it, sure.  But he was my favorite.  And they killed him off.  Some of my friends actually offered their condolences.  It made sense, but I'm very unhappy with it.  (Same goes for what happened to Tommy in the Arrow season 1 finally.  He was my favorite character, too!)

Like I said, though, the show was pretty amazing.  The special effects took some time to improve, but they were generally done very well.  The Easter eggs in this series just made me so happy.  There were so many of them!  I live for Easter Eggs.

And, then there's Legends of Tomorrow.  Not gonna lie, I think the title is so very stupid.  But I like the cast, and I like the characters, so I'm more than willing to follow this one.

The trailer looks pretty decent, and I love that it's airing in the off season when Flash and Arrow are on their breaks.  I'm curious to see how it fits in, and whether some of the characters will be introduced via the other shows.

Overall, I'm getting a good vibe from it, but only time will tell, I suppose.
