Sunday TV

Sunday TV is something I do every other week to recap all the things I've watched.  With fall TV season nearly upon us, you'll notice that this post will get longer and longer every time it's back.  So, let's get started.

Episode 1X01 of Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy
Title: "Road to Knowhere"
Watch: On Demand App
Rating: 2.5 Stars
Yes, Marvel, I can see you desperately trying to make sure everyone who loved the movie loves this by using old catchphrases, character stereotypes, and referencing locations and characters like there's no tomorrow.  As much as I loved hearing "I am Groot" fifty billion times in the movie, I don't think I'll last that long watching the show, where it's easily overdone.  Adding Cosmo, the space dog, was awesome (fun fact, my dog's name is also Cosmo, but he's not named after this Cosmo).  Overall, the voices of the characters are hard to get used to, and I feel like they're all trying to live up to the way the characters were performed in the movie.  Not my favorite marvel show, so far.

Episodes 1X01-1X04 of Vixen
Watch: CW Seed App
Rating: 4 Stars
It's a bit strange to see characters in animated form, for one, but overall the show is really good.  I like the concept, I just wish there was more meat on the bones for this one.  I totally understand why that isn't possible, seeing as it's a series of shorts.  Also, I hope Vixen, the character, makes it onto the small screen in a live-action way at some point (probably not this season, though).

Episodes 5X01-5X010 of Suits
Watch: On Demand App
Rating: 5 Stars
I love, love, love this show.  My only problem is that I wish there were more Mike, seeing as he's amazing, but I love that Donna has finally moved on from Harvey (who was always a dick, let's be honest) and that that allowed them to introduce Harvey's new secretary, Gretchen.  Also, humanizing Harvey (who clearly is the center of this show) by sending him to a therapist and giving him panic attacks has been a welcome direction.  Watching Luis grow up, too, has been very nice.  The way the season has left off has me dying inside and I can't wait for it to start up again.

Episode 1X01 of Supergirl
Title: "Pilot"
Watch: Chicago Comic Con
Rating: 3.5 Stars
A rather regular pilot, I'm excited to see where the series goes.  I do hope it picks up, action and consequence wise, because this episode was lackluster in both those departments.

Episodes 6 and 7 of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
Titles: "The Black Tower" and "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell"
Watch: Recorded
Rating: 5 Stars
I have no words for this show.  It stole my breathe.  It was amazing, and now I MUST read the book.  It's currently sitting in front of me and I keep picking it up and putting it down because I HAVE to finish the book I'm reading first.
