Can't Wait Wednesday: La Belle Sauvage

I'm switching over from Waiting on Wednesday's to Can't Wait Wednesday, a meme hosted by Wishful Endings. The idea is basically the same, but it looks like the official hosts of Breaking the Spine have shut down the meme so it's time to move on. Description and cover image taken from Goodreads.

Eleven-year-old Malcolm Polstead and his dæmon, Asta, live with his parents at the Trout Inn near Oxford. Across the River Thames (which Malcolm navigates often using his beloved canoe, a boat by the name of La Belle Sauvage) is the Godstow Priory where the nuns live. Malcolm learns they have a guest with them; a baby by the name of Lyra Belacqua . . .
Why I'm Waiting
It's been a long while since I read the Golden Compass, but I have plans to reread and finally finish the series before this one comes out. I couldn't pick just one cover I loved so I went with both the UK and US editions.

La Belle Sauvage releases October 19, 2017

  4. Hey, this is an AWESOME pick!!! And I do have a clear favorite -- the top cover! From what you've said, this is the UK edition. Well, I think it's much better than the second one, honestly.

The story sounds absolutely AWESOME!! I need to start The Golden Compass series myself!

Thanks for adding to my Goodreads shelves!! Also, thanks for commenting on my CWW post!! <3 :)

  6. I always love looking at the different book editions and wonder why they go with a certain look in one country and something different in another. Great pick!

    1. I do the same quite often! There are so many pretty covers out there (this is why I'm such an insufferable book hoarder I suppose). Thank you!

  7. I've pre-ordered the Waterstones deluxe edition but I know I'm going to buy the standard too as the woodcut illustration is gorgeous!

    1. The Waterstones deluxe edition is so pretty! I've had to force myself not to order it (shipping would break my bank). I'm so glad they went with a woodcut illustration; it's so different but it's gorgeous.
