Discussion: Blog Proud & How Did You Get Here?

So, this is part discussion and part story, but something I think is really important to talk about.  If you're interested in my past discussion posts, click here.  I do these every Thursday or so, and have a few more planned.  Once I get through all my ideas, though, I think I'll start discussion posts on particular books and see how those go.

Being blog proud is something important for every blogger.  If you aren't proud of your blog... then why are you blogging?  If you aren't putting out information that you enjoy, or you're doing it and it feels like work, maybe stepping back and figuring out why you aren't proud is something you should try.

At the end of last school year I wasn't very blog proud.  It felt like a lot of work and I wasn't happy with the work I was putting out.  So I decided to reformat a bit, which was a great step in refreshing my experience, and took half a month off.  And it was during this time that I considered dropping blogging or not.

Well, clearly I didn't decide to drop it.  During that time I actually discovered that I was super anxious to get back to blogging.  I really, truly missed it.  I was getting itchy and coming up with a bunch of ideas of what I could blog about and when I returned from the break I launched myself back into it.  And I really started loving my blog again.

I went through a similar thing earlier this year, but it didn't last long.  I just took a long hard look at everything I had accomplished and realized, "Hey, this is pretty awesome and I want to keep doing awesome things like this".  It's always really rewarding to scroll up and down my blog and see all my hard work.  I've been blogging for almost a year and I can't wait to continue.

Which has really gotten me thinking about how I started.  I can't actually say I remember how or when I decided.  Looking at my first post's date, though, I see that my first post came out on Christmas Day last year (and I'm honestly scratching my head wondering how I even had time for that).

Most likely, I wanted a place to talk about books.  And, well, I certainly found that place.  But I have a boring story, and I'm sure some people have more interesting ones.  So, I'd love to hear about how you found yourself onto this blogging community!  And I'd love to know if you're blog proud, or ever thought about stopping blogging.  Let me know in the comments!

  1. The one year mark is coming up quickly for you, isn't it? :) I've been at it for a little over a year myself and the time has really flown by. I really enjoy doing it and getting to know all the other interesting bloggers out there. My story is pretty similar in that I wanted a place to talk about my books and things I love. I knew I wanted to for quite a while since I enjoyed participating in class blogs in college and even having to run a blog for a grad school course. Of all of the sites I had used or explored, I greatly prefer Blogger, especially to Webs. It's very interesting to go back through my older posts and seeing how they've changed. :)

    1. It's always really interesting to see old work and then compare it to current posts. Hopefully I'll end up blogging for a long time to come since it's such a wonderful community. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
