This week has been pretty busy, but I still somehow managed to read a ton. I've also been writing a bit more than usual, and finally starting to catch up on my tv shows. Today a bunch of my extended family comes into town, so I'll be heading to the city later to catch up with them. Tomorrow we're all going to a Cubbies game for my Uncle's fiftieth, so I don't know how active I'll be online.
Like I said, I read a bunch this week. I finished six books (very, very surprised), which include three ARCs (Four Eyes, Let's Eat Ramen and Other Stories, and The Harlot Countess), reviews for which you will see in the coming weeks. I also finished my annual reread of Throne of Glass (still as lovely as I remember; this is my fourth time reading it and now I've moved onto rereading Crown of Midnight) and I think I'll be putting up a short reflection/reread review up soon. On the graphic novel front I finished Thor- Who Holds the Hammer and I absolutely loved it! Now I finally know who Thor is and waiting was well worth it. I also finished, like an hour ago, Throne of Fire.
This week I'll be reading Rook, which is the perustopia book club pick (join the group on goodreads!) this month and a book I've been eagerly anticipating. I'm already a chapter in, though I'm not quite sure how I feel about it just yet. When I finish that I'll be rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because it has just been too long since I read a Harry Potter book, and I've only read this one once. If I manage to finish both of those I'll start on Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, but I think that's not likely.
I wrote five reviews last week, three for books (Fablehaven, Mark of Athena, and The 100) and two for movies (Mr. Homes and Jurassic World).
On the TV front I'm still busy catching up on Graceland but I'm getting back in the groove of it, so it'll be easier to binge watch the season so far.
For writing this week I started working on a new novel. It was an idea that only recently popped into my head, but I really like where it's going and it's flowing very naturally. My problem is always starting new projects without finishing old ones, so my goal is to at least finish this one before starting a new idea. Finger's crossed I actually can.
Here's what I'll be posting this week:
Sunday- Sunday TV and Intro Video*
Monday- Review of The Shadowhunters Codex
Tuesday- Top Ten Tuesday and Review of the new Mission Impossible movie
Wednesday- Waiting on Wednesday
Thursday- Review of ODY-C and a Review of The Promise, Part 1
Friday- Review of House of Hades and a Friday 56
Saturday- Wrap Up and Book Haul
*And here's something I forgot to mention: I'm starting a Youtube channel. Why? Because I love Youtube and I think it's another great platform for talking about books. I'll be posting on Sundays and will be doing mostly wrap ups, hauls, tbr lists, and a few reviews. I look really awkward on camera, so sorry about that, but I can only get better from here! I would love it if you checked out the video and will be publishing it on the blog, as well.
So now onto the book haul. Up until yesterday I was really excited to stun you all with the fact that I only got two books! Two books is a crazy little amount for me, and I was super proud of the fact. And then I spent some time looking at other people's blogs and then on Netgalley. So, really, I am being pretty good in that I only bought three of the books I have to show you. The rest are all eagles courtesy of the publishers via Netgalley.
I recently finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and I loved it. I came across this radio play adaptation of the story and, looking at the beautiful and perfect cast, couldn't help buying it. I've been listening to it at night before I fall asleep and it's well worth the money spent. The cast is absolutely perfect in every way imaginable. Seriously give this one a try, guys, because even without having read the novel you can follow along quite well.
I also picked up Rook so I could read it and join in on the Perustopia book club over on goodreads. I absolutely love the cover and don't mind that I broke down and got this since I'm reading it only a day after it arrived in the mail.
And here's the most unexpected purchase of the week. I was on Read Till Dawn (great blog, I really recommend) and saw Jaina's post about this book. The Hostage Prince sounded absolutely amazing, the cover is gorgeous, and her review made me even more curious. So I picked it up on my kindle. I'll be reading this one very, very soon, bumping down some other books I meant to get to quickly, because it just sounds so very good. I think part of it is that it reminds me of books I read when I was younger and it brings out the nostalgic factor. I really can't wait to dive into this one!
And then here are all the egalleys I received this week. These were all sent to me by the publishers via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. And I'm very excited to begin all of them.
So that's my week in review. What book have you picked up this week?
Sounds like you've had a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love Neverwhere - I haven't listened to the radio play but it looks like it has a fantastic cast! I'll have to check it out. By the way, have you ever seen the Neverwhere miniseries from 1996? :)
Oh the cast of the radio play is absolute perfection! I've not yet seen the miniseries (though I probably will very soon). I'm curious to see how the three platforms (physical book, radio play, and tv series) stack up next to each other.

Oh wow. You've read ToG 4 times?? I have only read it once. I wanted to reread the series before QoS came out buuuut... you know that whole lack of time thing. But seriously, sounds like a great week!

Haha yeah, you could say I have a bit of an obsession with this series. I absolutely adore it and have, so far, made time each year to reread what's been released. It's getting harder since every year there's another book!
