Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Click here to join in on the fun!

This was another really fun, but really hard theme to do.  There are lots of authors I wish I could say were auto-buy authors, but I just sort of lost track of some of them and are so behind on their books and series I can't buy anymore just to own them.  So here's a list of authors that I will follow to the ends of the earth, no matter what they write.

10. Kristin Cashore
Not that this has happened yet (she's only written one trilogy) but I respect her writing so much I would read anything she wrote.

9. eden Hudson
Again, this hasn't happened yet since she's in the middle of her first series, but I love her story telling so much I would read nonfiction if she wrote it!

8. Craig Saunders
So he's totally an auto-buy even though I've only read one of his books.  I preorder them all because I loved his first one so much!  I only read one of his books earlier this year, so I don't have a huge back log of his books (and thus don't feel too bad about pre-ordering them all) and have plans to read them all soon.

7. Pierce Brown
So far he's only written two books in his Red Rising trilogy but they captivated me so much!  I can't wait to see what he writes next, because I will be pre-ordering it a year in advance (which I did for Morning Star but have never done for any other book ever; normally I only pre order a few weeks before the book comes out).

6. Samantha Shannon
I love her Bone Season series and will be preordering every book as it is announced.  I eagerly await the title of the third in this fantastic series.

5. Brandon Sanderson
He has so many books come out each year it's a strain on my wallet to pre-order them all.  When I can I do, but even if I don't pre-order them I always end up picking them up as soon as I can.

4. Michael J Sullivan
Oh yes, he's an auto-buy.  And an auto-read.  And an auto-everything.  If you haven't read Riyria, what are you doing with your life?

3. Scott Westerfeld
I'm super excited for his new book, Zeroes, which is coming out very soon.  I've preordered it on my kindle but will most likely end up getting a physical copy as well.  Scott Westerfeld was one of the first authors to ever become an auto buy and anything he writes his gold.

2. Sarah J Maas
This shouldn't be a surprise.  I've been preordering her books since I discovered there was going to be one written.  I think she's one of the few authors, if not the only one, who I've actually pre-ordered their debut book and read it as soon as it arrived.  So, yes, I do have Queen of Shadows preordered and it will be the top of my TBR pile as soon as it arrives.  I'll actually probably end up dropping whatever else I'm reading to read that one.

1. Cassandra Clare
My favorite author in the world.  Not even a doubt when I think about auto-buy.  She could write those health charts on the sides of cereal boxes and I'd read them.  Literally anything she writes I will pre-order and read.  And I'll buy multiple copies of her books, too, when they change the cover.  I'm obsessed, I know.

  1. Haha you're the same with with Cassie Clare that I am with Jodi Meadows. I have now almost 3 full sets of the Newsoul series. I'm about to petition HarperCollins to publish her novellas in print lol. Great list!

  2. Nice list!! Sarah Maas is one author I plan on starting very soon. I just downloaded a copy of Throne of Glass. I'm also still working my way through Cassandra Clare's books. I read The Iron Trial and really enjoyed her collaboration with Holly Black.

  3. Oh I could've easily added a few of yours to my TTT list and been quite pleased with it. Love Maas and Westerfeld in particular.

  4. Scott Westerfeld and Cassandra Clare are great - I've only read Throne of Glass by Maas and though I loved every second of it I didn't put her on my list.

    1. Throne of Glass is such a great book- I feel like everyone who reads it falls in love with it. The series only gets better, too, though each book feels slightly different than the preceding ones (in a good way!) Thanks for stopping by :)
